Great movie, but don't expect to feel good at the end. The acting, all-around is some of the best I've seen. I am a male and I cried during 2 early scenes of this movie that are painful to watch (without giving anything away). It's hard not to think of your own kids during movies like this.
If you like strictly horror movies or Superhero movies or Action movies, don't bother going to see this and blasting it on these User Reviews. This movie is for true movie enthusiasts that appreciate all genre's of movies. If you enjoy Crime/Mystery Drama's, this one is excellent. It's not that huge of a mystery, but the complexity of the characters and the emotion involved is what carries this movie. It saddens you to see how crime can affect people. I also couldn't help but think about gun control and how this movie showed the dangers of gun freedom. I have always been for allowing guns, but when kids find guns to play with and adults use them as vigilante's (don't mean to give much away), maybe we need stricter laws (not that they wouldn't get around them).
Sean Penn is awesome in this movie and I say Marcia Gay Harden was awesome too. Everyone else was awesome but those two stood out. Even Laurence Fishburne was perfect.
This ugly picture of how crime destroys people is hard to take but so was Saving Private Ryan. Sometimes the truth hurts but needs to be shown or told. This movie did what it intended to do. |
