WARNING! This includes spoilers, but nothing compared to the 2 1/2 hour waste of time spoiler I endured. We know going into this that the actors involved in this project are great. There was no need to prolong most of the scenes, or create similar scenes to demonstrate this fact. The scene in the morgue and the one in the funeral home with Sean Penn are redundant. Scenes created to suggest the villainy of the bad guys were too many. We got the picture, the neighborhood thugs are the thugs! And what exactly was the point of this film? We cared little to nothing for the Penn character and they finally proved the Bacon character was without ethics. And the wife of the Bacon character should've been committed to an institution for calling him an entire year and saying nothing at all! Is this real life? Maybe in Boston, but if that's the case, who the heck would want to live in Boston, where wives tell there husband it's okay to kill someone because they have FOUR HEARTS ready to burst for their family? If you pay attention, you know who the killers are by the day of the confirmation. And what was with that cacophonous music at the end of Penn's daughter's confirmation? And what is up with these reviews? Did ANYONE see the same film I saw? If Eastwood directs another film, I pray to God that he either hires another editor, and/or removes himself from the editing room! Or at the very least, he needs to understand and use the term "CUT" while directing. |
