Ex-pats delight Bill Murray shows Asia

Lost In Translation, what foreigners working in Asia say every day. It has not been until now that a movie has so eloquently expressed what is like to others. We understand the burnout, the sense of being cut off, all because of different culture and language.
Bill Murray understates this in his character, and I think that makes more of an impact. Living such a life does reek of quiet desperation. Those of us who have seen it have taken the midnight runs, but not with style as Murray.
We are mercs as is Murray's character, here for the money, but eventually we realize there is more to life than money. There is family, discovering who we are and that sometimes takes a painful mirror for us to see it.
Well done for showing us this Sofia Coppola. Excellent movie. |
