A Truly Intense Experience

What a truly moving, and intense experience. I believe the impact of this film will continue to surface more and more as time goes by. I heard a lot about the violent depiction of the last 12 hours of Christ's life and quite honestly I don't see how this story could have been depicted any differently. At no time was it ever a distraction.
When you see this movie, whether you are a believer or not, questions are going to surface. I believe the screenwriter assumes the viewer knows a bit about the story. The film does not go into a lot of depth about the life of Christ. I guess that is why it is called the Passion of the Christ. This was Mel Gibson's choice. I think Gibson needs to be commended for going against the flow of the usual Hollywood formula of politically correct screenplays. He, quite simply, is telling the Biblical account of the Passion, which leaves little room for fluctuation.
As I mentioned, viewing the film will bring up questions. For me, one question was simply, You endured all of this for me and yet You still love me, how can that be? That is the incredible love of an extraordinary man, an extraordinary God, an extraordinary Saviour. I can't begin to understand it, but I can be eternally grateful and graciously accept this most precious gift. |
