Hollywood pumps out the same formulaic trash over and over again and people love it (i.e. Bad Boys 2: how many buddy cop movies have we seen?), and then something comes along that is completely original and it gets dogged. Well, at least some of you saw what a good movie this was.
The others who dogged it did so because this is NOT a fast-paced, gore filled movie. So if you're looking for cheap thrills look elsewhere. I also think the movie was going for a few surprise plot twists that were mild surprises at best. However, they were still very interesting plot developments. The movie was so ORIGINAL and interesting, with no formulas involved whatsoever, that I give it an A-. There were a couple times that you could tell what would happen 5 minutes ahead, but there was no way that even 20 minutes from the end of the film you could tell how things were going to end. The acting was exceptional. This was not the 6th Sense (an A+ film) by any means but still very entertaining if you're a deep thinker. |
