Saved! is overall a great movie that pokes lighthearted fun at religion-gone-wild, while still reaffirming the vaules of faith, forgiveness and love that are fundamental to Christianity and many other religions. The acting is great, with Mandy Moore doing a great job playing the popular girl in school that everybody really loves to hate. Jena Malone is superb, and Macualy Culkin is too. Don't want to give away any of the plot, but the film is filled with moments that will make you laugh and even a few that may make you tear up, and is good for teens as well as parents. Perhaps the best part of the movie is that after the laughter is over, it prompts serious discussions after the film among friends or kids and parents about the nature and importance of spirituality and religion in the world today and in our individual lives. Overall a good movie to see! |
