Its no Pirates of the Carribean. But its a good fun Disney film in its own right. After extreme disappointments like Van Helsing and moderate successes like Day After Tomorrow, Shrek and Harry Potter, this was a welcome change of pace. If your idea of a fun movie is to have a good companion for your popcorn while your kids have a great time, then this definitely fits the bill. Steve Coogan is a find, would love to see him take center stage a bit more. Chan is his usual frantic funny self. There are a tonne of neat cameos but 'Ahnulds' turn as a polygamist prince is hugely entertaining and stands out. The visuals are stunning - they must have spent a fortune. Maybe it was my low expectations, but I kinda enjoyed it. |
