You don't go to see Hollywood Homicide and expect to coming out laughing so hard your pissing your pants. You go to see a film that's just entertaining with a few snickers here and there. But in the end, Homicide hardly gives even that. The jokes are corny, bad and just arn't funny. Everything is noticable, from Josh Hartnetts crazy hair that changes everytime there's a camera switch to the wrong SFX of footsteps on the floor (hollow step sounds on concrete). But where Homicide really lacks is in plot. The plot is so vague, so thin that you don't know who's who. When people are mentioned and it's a supposed twist in the story, you don't know or care who it is because the movie never really develops it's characters. By the end, your so bored and confused you don't care why there's a car chase you're just grateful your finally getting some action out of this movie. Josh Harnett hasn't exactly proven himself a comic master after this and 40 days and 40 nights. He should go back to drama action like Black Hawk Down where his true performances lie. As for Ford, he shouldn't be proud of this, and return to some dramas or compelling story like his previous K19. Hollywood Homicide is a mediocre effort, those looking for a rental most likely won't enjoy this much, but it's best kept a rental. I pity the soul who bought this DVD. As for Ford, all I can say is: better luck next time Ford, better luck next time. |
