This film beautifully depicted how love and faith can overcome any obstacle. I loved how you see everything through the children's eyes and the world becomes magical. The family's relationship with Mateo was very true to life and I loved how they brought him out of his shell when he seemed to have given up. Then, when the father confronts him, we realize the father has also given into fear and the two men realize they are not alone. Samantha Morton shows a tremendous amount of depth, something her performance in "Morvern Callar" seemed to lack. The children were very natural and believable and gave performances that pulled heartstrings I didn't know I had.

It's one of those films that reminds me why I love film so much. It's bittersweet, lovely and life affirming. Just a wonderful film.
