Aside from the now-typical "leaving you waiting for the sequel" ending of nearly all current Hollywood films, this movie was rather good.
The gothic scenery and dark lighting give the film's slower moments a style reminicent of old-school horror, while the setting, action and plot thrust the tale into our modern times.
What truly amazed me about this movie was the presence of a rather good, and oft times surprising, plot...take that, a few chase/fight sceens (with "cool" cars and "bad ass" weapons), add some dim lighting and a few hundred very pale, very beautiful actors, and you have Underworld; the best movie of it's genre we have seen in quite a long time. |
