First 1/2 boring, rest of the movie is great!

Decent story, liked the characters and it was fun to watch. The first quarter of this movie, to me, was boring and completely uninteresting (oh wait, that's the same thing isn't it? - ha). I just sat there waiting to laugh and nothing. It sucked... Then, once Spade is accepted into the family and has a nightmare sleeping where the kids' mom comes in and sings him to sleep (a touching scene), the laughs explode from then on.

While I will agree with other reviewers that this is not really a kid movie (it contains a fair ammount of content which may be of concern to parents) it is quite funny, a typical hollywood - but still touching - story and is one of those that really leaves you smiling and feeling pretty darn good on the way out of the theater.

I like David Spade although I wasn't expecting too much after Joe Dirt. I liked Joe Dirt but it didn't get my sides splitting. I usually laugh more at him on Just Shoot Me than when I see his movies. Dickie Roberts was pretty refreshing though, like I said, after about a quarter of the way into the movie. There were some scenes where I laughed really hard.

All in all, pretty cool, very funny. A good popcorn flick that will make you smile, laugh and have a good time. :)
