2004's most dissapointing overhyped movie (Sadly)

Mr. Rolan Emmerich, how many times you're going to destroy poor New York City? Not even in Van Helsing that i saw this many people walk out half-way through the movie. This movie's main problem was "THE TRAILERS",too much was shown in the trailers, about 90% of the special effect/destruction scenes(no kidding). Everytime i saw a destruction scene, i felt like "oh, i saw this in the trailer", and worst thing is, THEY ARE TOO SHORT!, why the hell shoot a few seconds of special effects when u already spent so much money and time making them? Everything would be high tense, the WOW factor kicks in as the city gets destroyed by mother nature then a moment later 'KAPISH' scene over! and another boring badly acted scene of a few kids trying hard to show that they actually are afraid opens.There is simply not enough!
Acting and direction was really bad, it feels as if they were all rushed out (did this movie have a tight deadline?), Not even for once you feel that the characters are OVERWHELMED to what's actually happening, which is the return of the ice age. When the mother cries, its fake tears u see, when the father is worried, its fake emotions u see, nothing at all feels real in this movie, the acting totally feels 'forced' into them.
Story was a total typical lame **bleep** cliche, scientist discovers something no one belives him, president calls him a moron, his wife is a nurse, blah blah ya whatever blah. And the core of it is just totally UNREALISTIC. they never really explain how the **bleep** ice age comes outta nowhere when they predicted it would be 1000 years later?. And why the hell throw in a bunch of untalented horny kids and make them as main characters? never EVER do that in a disaster movie. To make things even worse, everything was ALL OVER THE PLACE, way too many un-neccessary characters(the british/italian whatever scientist (bilbo baggins, was useless).
Visuals, like i said, while they were great, were spoiled by the God damn freakin' Trailers. And the sfx scenes were just too damn short(explained in detail in first paragraph).Why the hell they have to go show everything there and spoil the whole damn movie for everyone?. Its as if they used that just to create hype for this destined to be doomed (they know it) movie. Its just sad, truly sad.
Overall, This movie HAD(notice the pastense) great POTENTIAL to be the best Disaster movie EVAR created. But plagued by major Directional decisions,poor acting and weak script&dialogue. Also the Trailer spoiling the destructions scenes didn't help much either(and them being few seconds long). I TRULY wished that this movie kicked major ass. If u REALLY wanna watch it in the cinema, go ahead, it somewhat worth it, but if you're reluctant to, just wait for the DvD and rent it. So as a conclusion i can officially label this movie as a "FLOP".
