I was rather disappointed with TR2. In TR1, Lara Croft was larger-than-life. She was a strong, confident heroine who lived a little differently than everyone else. Who else has their own observatory, combat-trianing facility, and bungee-ballet in their mansion? What was really cool about TR1 is that Angelina Jolie was dressed like Lara Croft almost the entire time: black really-short shorts, black t-shirt, black combat boots, and the double-gun holsters. Tough, yet very sexy. In TR2, she never once dresses like that! Her larger-than-life presence is gone since she needs a sidekick to help her out, the sets and locations aren't as nice as TR1, and she is more ordinary and vulnerable. I preferred the tough (yet very sexy) Lara Croft of TR1 compared to the weaker character in TR2. And the script is very much like that of TR1: find key, key stolen, get key back, unlock secret with key, kill bad guy. However, I went to see the movie for the same reason 99% of the guys will - Angelina Jolie is still babeliciously HOT! |
