Surpsingly fresh....

In a world full of mediocre, hyped, and talentless celebrities, (i.e. Slutney Spreads, Gwyneth, and even Cameron to a certain point as much as we all love her), it so wonderful to see young talent such Amanda Bynes, Oliver James, etc. in What A Girl Wants. It's also good to know that they still make apple pie movies for those of us who don't want to see naked people rolling around the screen like monkeys in a zoo.
This movie was whimsical, delightful, and tasteful treat handed to the audience in a pretty bow. Bynes shined as Daphne, the girl who wants more than anything to know her father (Colin Firth as Lord Dashwood. There was depth there (if only the critics would take the sticks out of their butts for like two seconds) that Bynes doesn't usually get to show as she's know for her slapstick comedy. The whole cast was bloody brilliant, each character adding a mixutre of light and dark layers over a the usual Cinderella story. It's fun and clean and yes even cute and just very pretty to watch on the big and small screen?
And for those critics who say the story isn't real or deep enough, go watch Saving Private Ryan than. No one really cares. But leave those of us who are sick of seeing movies with violence, sex, and stupid plots to watching this underrated movie. Find your inner child, play with some play-dough then call it a night. For everyone else, see this movie and you'll feel sixteen again! |
