If you're looking for a movie with lots of twists and turns, this movie delivers in spades. The film is full of misdirection, narrow misses and gradations of intensity. Though not a dark movie, the world we peruse (so artfully drawn by Mr. Neiman) is gritty and hidden in shadow. But the movie still pulls off a lot of funny moments. Accompanied by an excellent soundtrack, the music complements the footage and sets the rhythm of the film. The characters are excellently executed by the actors: Stallone, Foxx, Bryne, Newton, but this movie is clearly owned by Stuart Townsend, with special bonus appearances by Hal Holbrook and Bo Hopkins. These two gentlemen are so refined at their craft that you forget they're acting. A delight from beginning to end, a must-see for anyone who loves a good surprise. |
