I rolled my eyes and chuckled upon the thought of seeing a remake of the original "Texas Chainsaw Massacre," which I found hilarious in its absurdity and execution the first time around. Then I watched the remake. And nearly pissed my pants. Jessica Biel is excellent as the lead and displays some decent acting chops (it doesn't hurt that she's gorgeous in every scene), but the real show-stopper is the visual flair of the film, from the bullet-tracing suicide scene in the truck to the shadowy eeriness that seeps into every frame. Chilling and disturbing through and through. Nothing groundbreaking here, but it's executed very well and gives you a genuine scare. |
