I am a mega huge fan of the lovely and talented Naomi Watts and was waiting almost a full year to see this so I had high expectations.

This film went way far beyond my expectations.....The Painted Veil was a major, outstanding, tremendously well acted, directed film full of beautful scenes, terrible times, and tales of life and love in the best way possible..in a real way.

On the romantic side of the film, Naomi Watts and Edward Norton have perfect chemistry in a way that is just so flawless that I cannot put it into words. They set up a perfect example of what you "think" you know and what you want to "believe" about someone, whether you know them or not. Whether you love or think you love them or not. A true and fine romance in a different way. Going through some serious issues to really find out who they both are and finding the love and respect they wanted or should have wanted from the beginning. For that, this will be a top favorite of all time. They may not win an Oscar but should very well be nominated since I do not think the film would have have been as perfect if they both were not involved in the picture.

John Curran's direction was perfection and picture perfect. Some of the scenes blew me away, they were simply so close, personal, and gorgeous. The score from the beginning to the end had me....totally had me and I knew I was going to love the movie from the very start.

The entire cast, especially Toby Jones and Anthony Wong were awesome and did an outstanding job. I was surprised at how humorous some scenes were. It was a good balance of drama, humor, and total sadness. The issue of the cholera epidemic was no joke and left me in total tears, I could not even imagine going through something like that. The emotion was so strong, so real, some scenes left me speechless.

I cannot tell you how suprised I was seeing this film. It was worth every penny and if you want a wonderful story with a huge heart, see The Painted Veil!
