I consider Edward Norton to be among the best of contemporary actors and in this film he does not disappoint. Naomi Watts is simply brilliant. The visuals are stunning and enhance the mood of the story. Just when you think that you have seen one too many films about colonial Brits with the romantic back drop of an exotic locale, along comes a film like The Painted Veil. Not for the Ben Stiller/Jack Black/Owen Wilson crowd. Take your wife or girlfriend, she'll love you for it. |
