This is a lush, panoramic, beautiful, and heartbreaking love story set in China in the 1920's. Edward Norton and Naomi Watts (and an excellent supporting cast) turn in performances that are quietly shattering and simply unforgettable. Really. My 18-yr-old-son and I both loved it and would recommend it highly. I am shocked that the SAG and Golden Globes have overlooked it. I believe it's a gem -- a classic. I certainly hope the Academy Awards will be more observant and will honor this film. I can hardly wait to see it again. |
