I've read some of the "F" grades, and the "boring"
and of course the usual I lost X hours of my life and I want my money back.
But here is the thing, my father, grandfather and 2 neighbors worked for the Hughes aircraft company in Culver City. These men met Mr Hughes, two, before he became the recluse and 2 after.
From waht they describe him as and from what I've read over the years, this movie is very realistic.
Leonardo Di Caprio is perfect in this role (and I'm not one of his biggest fans by a long shot) Look an him in the film go and find a picture of a young Howard Hughes, nearly dead on.
The other performances shine and the direction is excellent. As to the comments it rambles and is not a connected movie:
Welcome to the world of Howard Hughes, and a strange and exciting and yes dark world it is.
To some, history is dry and boring, to those of us who enjoy it this movie sheds light on a time and place in America and one of it's makers.
Remember the movies owe a lot to Howard Huges as well as the aviation community.
Enjoy this movie, it's great. |
