I don't know what the other reviewers of this movie were thinking when they said that this movie was "Dreadful." "Solaris" is an excellent movie, and unique in the way that you can interpret the story so many different ways and still be right. One could say it is about religion, or death, or love, and they would not be wrong. "Solaris" is a love story in a sci-fi movie's skin; it combines the depth of the protagonists' relationship with the scientific terms that are standard science-fiction fare. And, might I add, it does it quite well. The visual effects were some of the best I've seen; the shots of the glowing-blue planet were particularly captivating. The settings were excellently designed; the cockpit of the shuttle "Athena" was very detailed and appeared almost like I imagine it would, were it to exist in reality. As far as direction or acting/casting goes, I fail to see how they could have improved. The actors and actresses cast fit their roles perfectly.
In conclusion, "Solaris" is an excellent, deep movie for those who can appreciate such cinematic beauty. |
