I don't know why this movie was belittled as it was. Perhaps twas the season to pile on George Clooney.
This remake of the 1972 russian film is both different and daring in it's own way. When a films' storey content deals with subjective "ghosts" and past/present character overlays the waters can get muddy for sure.
This is a thinking persons sci-fi...part 'GHOST',part '6th SENSE'...there's even some similarities to 'EVENT HORIZON'. The bottomline is that SOLARIS is several things at once, the viewer has a choice on interpretations.
I found the movie strangely exhilarating...not for everybody but nothing unique ever is. Worth a look. |
