"Solaris" is a film which can't be explained in one simple way; it is a multi-layered, difficult, and sure-to-be-hated film that doesn't deserve the bad word of mouth it has received. Whether you see a very psychological sci-fi film or a deep, dark romance, "Solaris" features thoughtful acting and quality production work, and deserves to be given a chance. Honestly, you'd be better off watching this and giving your mind something to toy with than sitting through yet another mindless comedy or action film. This is a good movie that has an offer audiences should not refuse: a solid two hours of pure thought; pure speculation. Watch this with someone you enjoy conversing with... because when it's over, all you can do is discuss it over and over again. |
