This was cute. Very simple and straight forward plot and I do mean simple plot that you see coming a mile away and then some. Has a lot of elements you recognize from the ride although it's been years since I went. Takes it a bit to get going but once in the mansion and the ghosts get going it's fun. Especially enjoyed the singing busts and Meg Tilly was pretty good as the floating head gypsy.
Wallace Shawn who played Vizzini in The Princess Bride is in this movie and I was constantly thinking of Princess Bride quotes when he was on screen. "Inconceivable!"
It was a bit scarier than I thought it would be. Probably a bit too scary for the really younger kids. It does have a few jump scenes that got me but then again I'm a total wuss.
I was in the theatre with six other employees. No one laughed except me on one occassion so I wouldn't say this was a laugh riot comedy but everyone seemed to think it was cute. Something you can enjoy and forget ten minutes after you leave the theatre. |
