I loved the story and the tension between the top sarge and Mr. Phoenix. The opening scene will definitely wake you up so skip the coffee.
This one is not for everyone, but if you like films that point out the absurd in our government and can laugh at the outcome, it's for you. Don't take it seriously, even though much of it is based in factual events.
The story is about the drugs and corruption in the military in Germany at the end of the cold war. Like the buffalo soldiers, these guys wandered why they were there and what they were really supposed to be fighting for. When boredom sets in, mixed with drugs, money and military hardware...well, things happen.
The film is nicely cut and well directed. This is about as believable as I've seen Jauquin Phoenix. |
