An Unbiased Review

I dragged my friends to see this movie because of all the pre-release "buzz" surrounding it. Any horror flick not getting F's and D's across the board has got to be entertaining, I thought. Instead of entertaining, however, Cabin Fever just pissed me off.
This movie should have been released on April Fools day, because it's more like a joke on the audience than anything else. In the beginning, the movie seemingly takes itself seriously, and then gets progressively ridiculous with each passing scene.
Cabin Fever does have entertaining scenes, like when one of the characters unknowingly shaves her wounds while shaving her legs, but these scenes just serve to frustrate the viewer because something stupid and ridiculous almost invariably follows every good scene in the movie.
So, if you like nonsensical horror movies with homages up the wazoo, Cabin Fever is for you. Just don't say I didn't warn you about the scene where an 8-year-old yells "pancakes!", starts doing slo-mo kung-foo for no apparent reason, and then bites the infected main character in the hand. Oh yea, that makes sense. Worst-movie-ever. |
