Our 4-year-old son considers Wallace & Gromit to be a personal version of the Boogeyman. There is something about the eyes and the teeth that he finds frightening. The rest of the family loves these characters, and so we continue to hope he will grow out of this fear (and soon!). After listening to all the clips on Yahoo (he won't watch) he decided that he'd like to go "see" the film at a local drive-in. (This works well with young kids - we can control the volume, and he can wiggle around all he wants.) He fell asleep part way through. And declares that he had a good time. It helps that he could hide behind dad's head and didn't have to watch.
The rest of us (mom, dad, 8-year old boy) enjoyed it tremendously. The gags are both obvious and subtle, sight and sound. This is a movie that will need to be viewed many times in order to catch all the subtle humor. And there is much to catch. It goes by very quickly.
The story line is typical Wallace & Gromit, off beat and clever. They have taken the mudane to new heights of absurdity.
We don't buy many movies, but this is one that we'll own when it comes out. |
