This movie is like a abstract painting where the painter has just been slinging paint at the wall in a radom fashion.
However, this painter had something interesting early on, but didn't see it and just kept slinging more paint and more paint until it just became way "OVERDONE", "CONVALUTED", and an unintelligible mess.
This movie had normal human beings( Not Van Helsing) doing things would challenge spider-man. They lady draculas were WAY over used and all they did was talk about killing people until they talked so long they managed to get them self killed.
This movie might entertain 13 to 17 year olds, but is just a mess for anyone else. There were actually people walking out early in the movie, It was over 2 hours btw.
This movie was not satisified with just having Hugh Jackman in it, which could have been enough to the pull the movie through had they not piled on the "EXTRA CRAP" in every every scene.
Someone said take Indian Jones and the mummy and you have Van Helsing. I disagree somewhat. Take Indian Jones( loved it ), Spider-Man(loved it), Mummy(loved it), Leage of Extraordinary Gentlement(Eh not to bad), Hellboy(loved it) and voila you have Van Helsing. Some would think this is a good thing, and it could have been, but the truth is they attempted to pack way to much crap into this movie. It was way over the top even for me a fan of Spider-Man, Hulk, Daredevil, Hellboy...
Becuase the movie was so overdone, it made what was good about the story cheezy, what was good about Jackman cheezy, and what was good about classic monster movies cheezy. This was a movie that starts off great and just ruins every good aspect of itself as time goes on.
If you want to go to a movie and chat with a friend while watching the screen this is a perfect movie to allow you to carry on a conversation while watching a mess explode on the screen.
Bottom line, loved the 1st 20 minutes, the rest just got worse and worse by movies end. VERY DISSAPOINTED. |
