To be honest, I would pay $8 to watch Angelina Jolie grocery shop. I often catch myself not even paying attention to the film itself and just sit and daydream while staring at her on a big screen. Aside from my Jolie obsession, this film is actually pretty good.
The acting is solid and the twisting story is very intriguing. The premise of the film being that a serial killer has killed and assumed the identities of his victims. Jolie plays a detective hot on the serial killer's trail. Teaming with Jolie are detectives Paquette (Olvier Martinez) and Duval (Jean-Hugues Anglade). Kiefer Sutherland and Ethan Hawke also play key roles as the detectives try to track the serial killer. All involved do a good solid acting job and their characters are believable.
The storyline is very intriguing but loses points towards the end of the film. In an effort to constantly keep the viewer guessing, the film takes several sharp turns one after another sometimes for no particular reason. I could have done with a few less plot twists, but the film is good never the less.
If you like solid thrillers or just love watching Jolie then this is a film you will enjoy. The Director's Cut even includes a pretty risque scene involving Jolie and very little clothing (God bless DVD special features!). This film is on par with films such as Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider. |
