Like many of those born in the 60's I could not get enough of Speed Racer when I was growing up. Lets be honest, Speed Racer was not the best cartoon ever created but it inspired us in a time when the US was in crisis. We were in Vietman, had racial riots, assasinations, government coroption, etc.
Speed Racer was not about winning car races it was about loyalty, family, friendship, integrity, determination and keeping true to oneself. I thought the movie did an outstanding job at adhering to the values of the 60's cartoon.
Values aside the movie was fun. I just got back from seeing it in IMAX and it was a visual treat.
I highly recommend it to everyone out there especially to the 30 plus crowd as a reminder of what truly is important in life. |
