I saw this movie this evening, even after reading all of the bad reviews. I figured, how bad can it really be? Well...
I could not believe how bad the green screen effects were. Really, unbelievable! However, some of the other effects were quite good and the matte paintings were really imaginitive.
I did enjoy the Time Machine device, the "Time Tunnel" effect, and the "Time Wave" effect were well done and really cool. I also thought that the half-gorilla, half-dinosaur creatures were imaginitive and generally well done. The evolving greenery was belivable although random.
The acting was the normal action, sci-fi acting. Let's face it, in most of these movies, the emotions range from "What happened!?" to "Oh gee, my best friend is dead, oh well." The dialog was bland and to the point; only enough to get you to the next scene, nothing more. The Direction was reserved and matter-of-fact. The cinematography was flat and unremarkable.
In conclusion, My guess is, if you like science fiction, you'll find something to like about this movie. However, if your looking for an artistic statement on the state of human consciousness or a cinematic disertation on the morality of science, keep looking.
Thanks and enjoy! Peace Out. |
