For the last few months leading up to this movie, I was thinking things like "Please don't be like Dukes of Hazard/Ninja Turtles/Casper/Scooby Doo/ etc....I left the theater thinking Shrek who. This movie was off the chain ya'll. The simple story line is what makes The Simpsons the Simpsons. They rely on a thick massive juggernaut of characters to carry the story. Its a quick movie, that more than likely you'll have to watch more than once. You don't have time to settle down from your previous laugh before your hit with another joke. Homer, a few seconds later Bart, than Ralphy hits you with one of his famous one liners, than back to Homer, Cledus will get you a few times, than Moe, Oh don't forget to read and observe the background there are jokes hidden there too. "Oh, what did Lenny say? I was laughing at the Duff Beer Blimp." It has a few slow moments, but you'll need them to re-adjust your blood 02 level. They had 11 writers working on this movie and it shows it is jam packed full of jokes.
In the series the writers are cramped for time and don't get to develop any kind of relationships between the characters, but in the movie you get to see Homer and Bart in the ultimate father, son relationship.
So, pay attention, look, listen and try to keep your eyes dry, this movie is fast and furious with the jokes, and stay around for the credits Maggie might say something. |
