While I think the casting was excellent, I was a little disappointed with the missing pieces from the book. I really think they could have cut some of the other fluff to put them back in.
I realize it is difficult to interpret a book into a screenplay, especially with the size of this one, but some of what endeared me the most to the book was completely missed.
If you like the movie, than I would suggest buying the book to get a true taste of Mr. Cussler's genius. I have read all his books to date and unfortunately they fluffed-up his style to much and it lost some of what makes him so special.
In general the movie is a good ride and still I will buy the DVD to add to my collection, might even go see it again. |
