I think this is the worst in the series. I will not ever refer to this film and the holy trilogy in the same sentence after this review! If you liked Night, Dawn and Day, this is basically a slap in the face! All the gore is just red stuff, no really fleshy looking bits like in Dawn and Day, the guy that gets torn in half doesn't look anywhere near as good as when Rhodes gets it in Day.
The plot is as thin and spread out as saran wrap. The problem with the plot is that they tried to have too many plot points, too many side stories. The acting was awful and you didn't feel for the characters at all! Not to mention the awful make-up on the burnt guy. Tom Savini should have done the make-up, not a cameo.
Thee idea of the zombies becoming somewhat intelligent was touched on in Day but I thought that they "evolved" a little too quickly. Not to mention there is something really cheesy about zombies with guns. FOR GODS SAKE!!! THE MAIN ZOMBIE LAUGHS!!!!!!!!
I went into this really hoping for the next installment of the holy trilogy, instead I got a lukewarm flick.
In the trilogy, Romero never used the all annoying jump scare, but I guess he figured he would give it a shot, and failed. He also never used comedy either, again, failed. The death of Dennis Hopper should have been something fantastic and over the top, instead it wasn't even interesting, I mean really! In the other Romero dead films, the bad guys got it in the end, and BIG TIME, but not in this one.
People, Romero DOES NOT STILL HAVE IT!!! I was hoping that Bruiser was just a failed attempt at a different genre. WRONG!!!!!!!!
*****************SPOILERS AHEAD*******************
OK, here are the things, specificly, that i HATED about the movie.
1.) Use of puppets
2.) I thought they weren't going to use CGI, Hell, every blood splatter was CGI!!!!!!
3.) The mane character tries to get John Leguizamo not to kill a guy who just got bit when he knows the outcome.
4.) OK, let me get this straight, when the zombies start to break into the city, the guards who are protecting the city, even though they are "trained" on killing zombies, STILL GO FOR BODY SHOTS!!!!!!!!!!
5.) The belly button ring rip-ok, for starters, why would a zombie rip out a belly button ring, not flesh and the belly ring, JUST THE BELLY RING!!! Not to mention that the flesh wasn't even ripped after it was ripped out.
6.) ok, this is the DUMBEST thing in the whole film. it ends with fireworks people!!!!!!! FIREWORKS!!!!!!!! WTF!!!!!!!!!! |
