Two of my friends wanted to see this movie so badly. I was sceptical. It didn't look good. I thought it was going to be stupid and offensive.
I was wrong. I actually found this movie to be quite funny. It don't think it would be offensive to mentally challeged people either, at least in my opinion.
The story starts out quickly when Steve Barker (Knoxville) needs some money. He asks his Uncle Gary (Cox) for some. Uncle Gary says no, because he is also in need of money. Uncle Gary then gets an idea. He eventually convinces Steve to enter into the Special Olympics. Unlce Gary places his bets that Jimmy Washington, the crowd favorite in the Special Olympics, will loose in this years competition. Trouble starts out from the beginning as the other competitors find that Steve, or Jeffey (his fake name), is a fraud. They decide to help him anyways, as they don't want Jimmy Washington to win again this year. They all become really good friends with each other, despite the bad start. After training for many days, the finals for the Special Olymipics comes.
I am going to stop myself from giving the rest away. It has a pretty good story and direction. There is also good acting and visuals. Overall I gave it a A- because it is humorous, short and to the point, and very enjoyable, but it did have its flaws.
This movie was worth seeing. I recomend you to spend your money and see this if you are looking for a good laugh. |
