I thought that this movie would be a scary horror movie with an interesting plot and some startling effects. I was wrong. This movie is quite possibly the best horror movie ever made. It is beyond scary; it is terrifying. What makes this so truly brilliant is that the scariest part of the movie is the concept, not blood, gore, or some unknown creature. Watch a short movie full of strange images recorded on a blank, untracable video tape, and die in seven days. Okay, this doesn't sound too original, or at least, not too scary. But the portrayal of this video and the entire movie in general is nothing short of a masterpiece. What's so truly scary is the story behind the tape, and why it can never be destroyed. By the end of the movie, all the strange images make sense, everything seems okay afterall, but... "what happens to the next person who watches this tape?". A flash of the ring and you're dead. |
