i think a lot of the bad reviews for this movie being sent in by viewers probably have something to do with the fact that, unlike sandler's other movies, this is a film with a little depth. the humor is more subtle, and sandler doesn't do his whole "yelling in a funny voice" schtick.
i don't write this to deride sandler's previous films. i actually think they're pretty funny, in the way that i think someone farting or falling on their a$$ is funny. this film is much darker than that, and sandler, while still playing a freak with anger management issues, is a little more toned-down.
all in all, it was a great movie. i'd highly recommend it to anyone. just don't expect a slapstick comedy like sandler's other films. |
