Why do the critics hate Science Fiction?

I went in the movie theatre to see The Chronicles of Riddick with some doubts. I had just read about 15 negative reviews from respected critics, talking about how bad the movie was, how cheesy the plot was, and so on. I came out of the theatre wondering what in the world was wrong with those critics?
I thought the movie was quit good. Special effects were impressive, backup acting was good enough. But I thought the thing that really sold me on it was Vin Deisel. He played the part so perfectly, it was amazing. His one liners were funny, just everything about him fit the role outstandingly.
Overall, though, I think the majority of the critics are completely wrong about this movie, and don't know a good sci-fi hit when they see one. Some people just have no imagination....
Regardless of what the critics say, I'm going to go see this movie at least once more in theatres, and recommend it to my friends. |
