Roberto Benigni has not only brought this story back to life but he has also reinvented it. I feel sorry for anyone who cannot see what a masterpiece this film is. Benigni prooves himself to be one of the greatest actors of all time and if it were not for the people who seem to have it in for him he might end up being known as the greatest comedic actor of all time even edging out the great Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton. I think most people like to believe that all of the acting legends are either retired or dead but in this day and age the ones who are silently and unpopularly reguarded as legends are even more honored because they are chosen by people who are not influenced by popular demand and who truly know how to select the greats. I for one will always know Roberto Benigni to be one of the greatest actors in cinematic history comedic or otherwise and I will also feel spendid about knowing that I am one of the very few who know that Roberto Benigni's "Pinocchio" is a classic. When seeing this incredible film I feel what it must have been like to experience "The Wizard of OZ" when it was originally released. Seeing that is not how most people respond to this film only further prooves that the "new" Hollywood is on life support. |
