Despite what people are saying, this is a funny film. The sound booth, the hamburger, and the dancing scene are all laugh out loud funny. My husband and I went to the premier and thought that Steve Martin was excellent. I want to beg people to stop comparing this film to the earlier Pink Panther. This is not a remake. This is a new film with humor (albeit not sophisticated) that is for our time period. He is a new inspector and it had to be a new film that didn't just use the same jokes as the old one. Carbon copy remakes are safe. Martin took chances. I ask the public to appreciate that instead of crucifying the film for it.
My husband and I left the theatre thinking that we hadn't had a good laugh at the movies in far too long and this gave us that much needed chuckle. The only thing I will say is that Beyonce is not a good actress and that the parallel parking scene is a bad introduction. This is not a film for quick witted humor. But it is a film for bare boned laughs and a solid time at the movies. Mr. Martin: don't let them get ya down. |
