What's the best Disney animation you've ever seen? Cinderella? Snow White and the Seven Dwarves? Sleeping Beauty? See this film, and it'll blow you away.
The legendary tale starts off with a young girl named Chihiro who gets seperated from her parents in a strange, hillside tunnel. She stubbles into an eerie, fansinating world, filled with all sorts of different spirits. Oddly enough, the spirits come to this world on vacation, to go to the local bathouse. Chihiro is 'kidnapped' by an evil sorceress, and forced to care for the spirits in the bathouse. But with the help of a few friends and a pinch of magic, she escapes back to the human word, saves her parents, and discovers the truth behind the beauty of life.
If I was stranded on a deserted island, and I could only bring one animated movie with me, it would be Spirited Away. This is definately one of the most unique family animations I've seen in my entire life. Plus, it's chock full of amazing, creative characters, beautiful imagery and music, and an adventurous, elaborate plot. "In almost every sequence, there is something -And idea...And image... that is like, so fresh, so new, you kinda wonder, 'How did he think of that?!'" - (Spirited Away: Featurette)
Spirited Away is basically like an Asian Alice in Wonderland. We follow a young girl into a parrallel, fantasy world, where she meets new creatures, and has to escape, but ends up learning a life lesson in the process.
If you do decide to see this film, go with an open mind. Go to experience something different, which is actually a wonderful thing.
