Another excellent breath-taking film by Hayao Miyazaki.
At the beginning of the film, it gives you, somewhat, a mysterious feeling, and you just keep questioning "Why is it?... What's happening??"
The movie will probably seem a little weird for some Americans, since their traditions and culture, well, are a little different from Japanese's.
Everything in the movie seems logical and the the music and art is absolutely gorgeous. The backgrounds and landescape...ect. ect.
My favourite character goes to Chihiro, I really envy her bravery, after encountering so much weird creatures, ghouls, ghosts, and most of all, spirits, she still follows every order Yu Baba gives, and didn't run away.
Haku, the dragon boy, is like a little gentleman, very mysterious, (and cute!) and very nice to Chihiro. He is like her guide to the Spirit world, without him, she would probably be a piglet, but it's destiny that brought them together, after all, they did meet each other before when Chihiro lost her pink-ish red shoe.
What interest me the most is the relationship between Chihiro and Haku, Haku have helped Chihiro a lot, yet, in return, or, in the end, she gives a lot more back to him.
A interesting part in the movie is when the "No Face" came into the picture. He, who is the spirit who feeds on greed, indeed was, disguisting. When he throws all the stuff up... it's no wonder this film made it to the Japanese's top gross film list!
Another scene was in the Garden, where Chihiro an Haku kind of speak heart to heart, though very indirectly. Each of them express a little of their problems, and Chihiro kind of shed some fluids while eating the rice ball Haku brought for her. And she discovered that he was a dragon at day times.
And what touched my was when Chihiro told Haku his real name...which is Nigihayami Kohaku Nushi, or Kohaku for short, they flew, or fell, in the air with tears of joy...
The bittersweet part was when they're leaving each other...it was obvious Haku didn't want her to go, but he knew she doesn't belong here.
A lot of fans have wondered what will happen, will Chihiro see Haku again? Will she remember Haku? Will she go back to the Spirit World??
And, well, they don't seem to have any intentions of making a sequel, because, Hayao Miyazaki thinks sequel will ruin the first, the original one.
And Miyazaki really left us audience thinking in the end, really, and some fans complained that it's "leaving them hanging", or "Left out"
We never know what will happen next but, use your imagination a little bit! |
