After seeing 8 screenings of this movie, I'm still laughing at some of the jokes and animal behavior (stealthy penguins Rock!). It's a great mix of adult and child humor. If you're a movie buff, you'll love this movie (there's probably a dozen subtle and not-so-subtle references to other movies throughout the show). If you love New York, you'll love this movie (the re-creation of various parts of NY is great...including the subway). If you're an animal lover, you'll love this movie (who can say no to a cute Lemur?)
Some advice: If you don't go with children, go to the late show. There's a couple not-so-greatly timed jokes in the movie. When children laugh uproarasly at the kiddy jokes, they cover up a couple adult jokes and you'll miss them. Also, if you don't know who Tom Wolfe is, Google his bio before you go or you'll wonder.
My only caution: if you have young, impressionable kids that like acting out movies, they might be saying 'shut up' a lot and spitting out water after the show (Remember the whole flushing goldfish down the toilets after 'Finding Nemo' thing?). |
