Critics are a little off on this one....

I don't understand why the critics let the political message of this film completley ruin their movie going experience. yes the movie is about the death penalty, and yes it makes Texan's look like red-neck murderers.... (i'm texan by the way, and live between huntsville and houston and believe it or not I'm against the death penalty) But, the movie presents it's message in a easy to handle manner and doesn't try to force anything down your throat. Critics are just grumpy. Alan Parker delivers again w/ The Life of David Gale, he does a lovely job directing the actors and it is obvious that he spent a lot of time perfecting every scene and event in the film. The actors are perfectly casted, with Kevin Spacey, Laura Linney and Kate Winslet playing their characters as good as they possibly could. This movie provides an adequate amount of suspense, and the irony of the whole thing is unbelievable. I was expecting an atrocity of a film once I read all the reviews, which dissapointed me being a big Kate Winslet fan. However, I was surprised when I saw how awesome it really was. The only bad thing is how they make Huntsville and Austin seem like 10 minutes from each other, when in all actuality they are about 2 hours apart. Other than that it's one of my favorite movies, and I highly recommend watching it if you aren't put off by a political-aimed flick. |
