Part film noir, part ghost story, part gothic romance, part psychological thriller... faint echos of past films like 12 Monkeys, Jacobs Ladder and the Sixth Sense... perhaps even Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.
Don't go to The Jacket expecting thrills and shocks. This movie is about heartache and mortality, and ultimately about finding light in a dark world, and finding love, however doomed it may be. It's melancholy and mesmerizing. For all its brooding beauty, I loved it. |
