Story: The story is dark and strange. Most of all it's original and smart. The story goes like this, Jack, military vet rum is returning home from the war due to being wounded. A man who says he will give him a ride then picks him up. Later the two are pulled over by cops and after one thing leads to another Jack wakes up with no memory of what happened. He is being accused of murdering a police officer and ends up in an asylum. There the doctors sedate him with drugs and strap him in a straight jacket and leave him in the body drawer of the morgue. These events somehow thrust him into the future where he can foresee his death. He soon meets Jackie an alcoholic waitress who will help him try to prevent his death.
Acting: The acting is brilliant. Adrien Brody gives a sensational performance. Keira Knightley puts on an American accent and creates a totally believable character.
Direction: John Maybury does a fine job at directing this picture. He creates a dark gothic feel to the film, which in this case works very well.
Visuals: The visuals are excellent when Adrien Brody's character transfers into the future. The visuals are also very graphic and sometimes a little disturbing.
Overall: Overall this movie is an A+ due to the story idea that actually asks the audience to use their brains to know what is going on with is pretty rare today at the movies. Also because of the brilliant cast and there performances. |
