One of the best movies out there

I'll explain my ratings. The story is very good in that it's complex, with the various color schemed versions told in the movie, and also not boring. It's a movie illustrating, through a myth/legend, of how China came to be, so its not some weirdo storyline that nobody cares about. Some claim the movie is unrealistic or whatever, but the movie was based upon a FOLKLORE, meaning its not true obviously, yet gives it an enchanting, mystic aura around it.
The acting was done pretty well with an all around stellar cast such as Jet Li and Donnie Yen for their fighting, the popular Zhang Ziyi, and two Hong Kong cinema favorites Maggie Cheung and Tony Leung. Chao Dao Ming (the Emperor), does a great job acting as a dominating ruler in here. The directing was done very well obviously as can see through the stunning visuals.
The visuals are the BEST part of this movie. Even people who think the movie suck must agree that the scenes were done beautifully, the kind that stay in your mind for a long time. My favorites were the Qin Army onslaught scene, the fight in the red leaf garden, and the serene shots of the green countryside. The music blends harmoniously with every scene.
Anyway, I thought this was definitely one of the best movies. If you like kung fu cinemas, stunning visuals that will blow you away, and Chinese history, then you'll love it as well. BTW, Hero is better than Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon im my opinion. Enjoy. |
