I wanted to like Hellboy...

I saw a sneak preview earlier in the week and was curious to see how the movie would do and what people thought of it. That said, I am surprised with the reaction...
Hell Boy is a fun movie. The lead character is insanely likeable. Not only does he dash the bad guys with a winner takes all flinchless flair, but he turns soft going after the flame girl character, poorly preformed by Selma Blair. His one liners are funny, well timed, and well performed. Hell Boy himself is by far the best part of the movie.
Now, lets go to the story: spotty at best. The pacing goes from lightning fast to a snails crawl. The continuity between scenes leaves the audience scratching their heads, for instance, Hell Boy beats down a nazi henchmen and then is encased in chains. How did that happen? The relationships b/t the characters are not believable, probably because of Selma Blair's performance at the nexis of the love triangle.
Simply put, if you are a major comicbook fan and want a few laughs and some action, check this out. If you are a casual movie goer, see something more fun and satisfying like Dawn of the Dead.
