From the beginning to the very end, this is an art film in every way. And Firth smoulders as no other male can.
It is beautiful and catches you up emotionally from the first frame. The book was a success and the film was packed every time I went to see it in film festivals all over the country.
The DVD is already pre-ordered in the case of every woman I know. One sees herself there will Vermeer...and with Firth. Every grown woman's dream, whether it has any basis in reality or not, this film is balm for what is happening in the real world.
