I have to admit I didn't go into the theater with a high regard for either one of these actors. I mean, Affleck has had his moments in Chasing Amy and, dare I say it, Pearl Harbor (yeah, I liked it a little...so what?). But that's just it, they were MOMENTS. And Lopez...don't get me started. What an over-sensationalized piece of air-brushed Hollywood fluff she is. Just plain famous for being famous since she's a 2nd rate actress and a bargain-bin kind of singer...but I digress. I just didn't want to be swayed by critics since, contrary to popular belief, they don't know everything about film-making or acting. So, here's my review in a word - GARBAGE. Jen as a lesbian? On what planet? Planet playboy since she embodies what straight men dream lesbians could look like. And Ben as a thug? Yeah, okay. And the accent he displayed is the equivalent to nails on a chalkboard. Forget about the kid they kidnap. He's a mess. The cameos with the screen legends (they shall remain nameless to protect the poorly directed)...I will gloss over that, too. The script was horrible and that was the worst part. I walked out of the theater feeling sorry for Ben. How he will rebound from this professionally, I don't know. Maybe he will continue to be famous for being Mr. Lopez, which isn't enough. And Jennifer...she'll just continue to be famous for...you guessed it! Being famous. |
